One Moultrie woman says she got a car dealership ad in the mail with a fake key attached, something that pops up in many mailboxes in south Georgia.
But after her four year-old started her car with the toy key, she knew then that it wasn't your average car ad.
Friday afternoon when Melissa Kilgore went outside to check the mail, she never expected to find a key in her mailbox that she could actually use.
"I was opening up the mail and I had seen one of those little things from Thomasville Toyota with a key on it and you can win a car so I usually think they are just gimmicks," says Kilgore.
Kilgore says she usually gives the keys to her kids to pay with but this time, the key wasn't a toy.
"He grabbed the key and stuck it into the ignition and turned the car over."
That's when her four year old son Zachary started the car. While the keys aren't an exact match, Kilgore says it was enough to start her engine.
"This is my regular key verses the key that was sent out."
Kilgore says she contacted Thomasville Toyota to let them know about the strange coincidence. But now she's worried. She says if a random key started car, one of the thousands that are sent out everyday could start someone else's.
"It makes me worry that kids could get into people's cars and kill people. They are children. Thousands of other people's cars could get stolen."
Kilgore plans to take the key to Thomasville Monday morning, but as for now, the fake key mystery will remain unsolved.
