Officials rescue stranded boaters

MITCHELL CO., GA (WALB) -

A man and his son, out on a fishing trip, have to be rescued when their boat motor stops working.

Officials say the two went out Sunday and began experiencing problems with the motor.

Authorities received a call around 7pm Sunday night that the motor had stopped working and they were stranded, floating downstream on the Flint River in Mitchell County.

"We've been in contact with them by phone.  They got no medical problems at all, we're just standing just to make sure everything goes ok," said Hal Pinson, the Dougherty County EMS paramedic supervisor.

North Mitchell Fire Department volunteers rescued the two by boat just after 9pm, south of the Plant Mitchell boat ramp.

Dougherty County EMS and the Albany Fire Department also helped out with the rescue.
