APD is on the lookout for this man
The Suntrust Bank at 1100 Gillionville Road was robbed about 9:45AM.
The Albany Police Department and the Federal Bureau of Investigation are scouring the area for a black man about 25, 6' 2", weighing 160 pounds, with shoulder-length dreadlocks, wearing a black jacket.
Merry Acres School was locked down for a few minutes, but then that was lifted, and the school went back to normal status. St. Teresa's School was locked down for a longer period.
Police warned officers to be alert for any more possible robberies in the city. No one was injured.
APD reports: "The suspect walked into the bank and handed one of the tellers a note demanding money. The teller complied and the suspect fled the scene with an undetermined amount of money."
"The gestures made by the suspect caused the teller to believe that he was armed. But it is not know at this time what type of weapon was used during the robbery. Officers are on the scene canvassing the surrounding area and questioning witnesses. The Crime Scene unit is collecting evidence."
