ALBANY, GA (WALB) -

The north end of Albany's Riverfront trail will be finished soon with the construction of a bridge over Philema Road to Chehaw.

The project was put on hold when revenue from the SPLOST V came up short of projections.

City Manager James Taylor says it will provide an easier and fun way for people to make to Downtown Albany from the park and should generate revenue for the city.

"People who visit Chehaw, who are in their campers and that kind of thing, will be able to be there and get in a golf cart or bike and ride to Downtown to visit the shops and businesses. We think it could have a tremendous economic impact on the Downtown area as well as for Chehaw," said Taylor.

Construction will start early next year.
