ALBANY, GA (WALB) -
Workers at Darton Sate College are busy setting up for a national soccer tournament that will have a big economic impact on Albany.
The top 12 men's junior college teams in the country, including the Darton Cavaliers, will play for a national championship here in Albany starting Monday.
With people traveling here from all over the country, the Convention and Visitors Bureau says the tournament will pump $830,000 dollars into the local economy.
"We encourage everybody to go out and support the soccer teams, making sure that they feel welcome. With restaurants, when the teams come in, we really want you to give them the southern hospitality that we're always talking about and they're always hearing about," said Albany Convention and Visitors Bureau Manger.
The first game is Monday at four o'clock. The championship game is Saturday.
You can buy daily tickets or one ticket that will get you into all the games the whole week.
The Darton women's team will also play in their national tournament next week in Melbourne, Florida.
