The city of Dawson has a new mayor elect and get this he's just 22 years old.

But Chris Wright says he has big plans for the city.

The funeral home apprentice beat out long time Mayor Robert Albritten by just 30 votes in Tuesday's election.

He says he wants the city to open its doors to bring in more opportunity for jobs and growth.

"We need to make Dawson a more prosperous place by means of working together, working with the county, helping the citizens with their needs and requests and making it more open door for businesses, industries, or anyone who would like to come to Dawson," said Chris Wright, Dawson Mayor Elect.

Mayor elect Wright will become one of the youngest if not the youngest mayor in Georgia. He's studies at Albany Tech.

Despite legal troubles in the past, Albritten has served as Mayor since 1991. We reached out to him Wednesday but he had no comment.
