LOWNDES COUNTY, GA (WALB) -

A Valdosta woman is out of jail tonight after she slammed into a Lowndes County school bus, sending three students and the bus driver to the hospital.

26-year-old Kala Mead was charged with following too closely and driving with a suspended license.

Yesterday at 3 o'clock, 30 Pine Grove Elementary Students were on their way home when Mead hit the back of the bus on Cat Creek Road as it was turning onto Vienna Church Road.

"People need to pay attention to the school busses. The busses are going to have to make stops. You know we have flashing lights on the buses that come on to warn drivers that the busses are fixing to make a stop," said Roger Christie, Director of Transportation for Lowndes County Schools.

Those three children and the bus driver are okay tonight, and Mead has bonded out of Lowndes County Jail.
