ALBANY, GA (WALB) -

We've got an update on a wreck we first told you about in a Breaking News Email. The Leesburg man who ran into a light pole on North Slappey Blvd was charged with a DUI.

31-year-old Travis Ellis is lucky to be alive after the wreck. He was treated and released from the hospital yesterday.

Police say around 3am, Ellis was traveling South on N. Slappey Blvd in a 2000 Galant. Ellis says he blacked out behind the wheel and lost control of his car.

He then hit a light pole, a Phoebe Putney Hospital sign, and then his car overturned near the intersection of West 4th and North Slappey. Our camera's were rolling as APD gave him a field sobriety test.

He was then transported to the hospital and later charged. Ellis was charged with a DUI, colliding with an object and failure to maintain a lane.
