ALBANY, GA (WALB) -
Workers started the demolition phase of the downtown Albany Art Park Monday.
Some of the walls were knocked down inside the old Pine Avenue building just for safety.
Artists have made a lot progress on the big mural of the Broad Avenue bridge, but they still have plenty of details to add in before it's complete.
City officials think the project will help draw people downtown.
"An urban art park is something you don't see very often, where you can see people painting. Also we have some above ground gardens that I think will get the community involved with," said Aaron Blair, Downtown Mgr.
They hope to have the art park completed not long after the first of the year.
