Jones looks for bowl trip in senior season

Albany's Jason Jones wasn't able to savor an Ole Miss win in his home state Saturday against Georgia.

Jones though is hoping his final season in Oxford will end with a bowl game.

Jason Jones saw extensive action as a reserve defensive end Saturday for the Rebels.

The former Westover High product is currently second on the Rebel defense in sacks.

He has earned the biggest honor for any Ole Miss defensive player winning the Chucky Mullins Award for the 2012 season.

Jones gets to wear the #38 jersey that was worn by the late Ole Miss defensive back who was paralyzed in a game in 1989.

The senior is enjoying his final season for the Rebels under first year Ole Miss head coach Hugh Freeze.

Freeze has the Rebels needing just one more win to become eligible for a bowl game.

Jason Jones said. "Coach Freeze is doing the right thing. We have got to continue to buy in. Even with games like this in the season, we have to still have to grab what he is trying to coach us. From all the coaches, we have to pick it up. We have to grab it. We have to keep moving on. We can't flinch. We can't blink. You have got to play the next play. That is what we are doing."

Ole Miss closes out the season against Vanderbilt, at LSU and against Mississippi State.
