ALBANY, GA (WALB) -

Meals Ready to Eat stored at Albany's Marine Base were trucked out Monday morning to support Hurricane Sandy relief in the northeast.

The Defense Logistics Agency at the Base shipped out 960 cases of M-R-E's from their warehouse at M-C-L-B.

That's more than 11, 500 meals stored in individual air tight containers.

These meals will be used by the military called in to help in the disaster relief.

"The meals that are issued out are going to Ft. Knox, Kentucky," said Albany base DLA Deputy Director Tony Brooks.  "They are in direct support of military personnel who are being dispatched in support of Hurricane Sandy."

Albany officials say they have more M-R-E's stored and ready in their warehouses if called for.

Nationally the Defense Logistics Agency expects to deliver 4-million meals in the disaster zone Monday.

The D-L-A is also sending 800,000 gallons of fuel to troops serving in the area.
