ALBANY, GA (WALB) -

A man being transported for mental health treatment jumped out the back of an Early County deputy's car and ran Monday morning.

Shortly after 8:00AM, an Early County Deputy was transporting a mentally ill man to the Albany Crisis Center.

We're told the man, still in handcuffs, kicked out the window and jumped out, near the intersection of Gillionville Road and Lockette Station Road.

Albany Police quickly caught the man and he was transported to the hospital.

Chief Deputy Randall Meeks says the man was more of a danger to himself than anyone else, and is receiving treatment now.
