ALBANY, GA (WALB) -

The Marine Corps is celebrating their 237th birthday, but Saturday's birthday ball was a little different from normal.

Military children were invited to this year's ball.

Organizers say the ceremony was even better when marines could enjoy it with their families.

"This is about the families and the military children as well as the children of the department of military defense personnel so this is a way to give back to military families and actually celebrate the occasion with our kids," says Kyle Thomas with MCLB.

Saturday's ball included a formal dinner and a color guard presentation. All military service members were invited to attend.
