VALDOSTA, GA (WALB) -

Lowndes County leaders say keeping your pets healthy is as important as keeping yourself healthy.

That's why the county is hosting its first Animal Health Fair.

People are encouraged to bring their pets to the Civic Center on Highway 84 for services such as free animal health screenings and $10 rabies vaccinations.

You'll even be able to adopt a pet from the Lowndes County Animal Shelter.

"We several local vets that are coming out to provide low coast rabies vaccinations, as well as mircochipping for $25. Other vets are coming to provide health screenings, we're going to have information on poison control for your pets and Sparky the fire dog is going to be there," said Paige Dukes, Lowndes County Clerk.

Organizers remind you to keep your pet on a leash and come out for a great day with your pet.

The Animal Health Fair will be from ten to three.
