ALBANY, GA (WALB) -

The last day of early voting was also the busiest day at the polls in Albany.

Out of more than 54,000 active registered voters in Dougherty County, about 14,000 had cast ballots by 3:30 Friday afternoon.

More than 800 people voted Friday, more than any other day of early voting.

Overall, it's been a smooth process. Now workers are gearing up for Tuesday.

"I would just like to say for the early voting process I would highly commend all of the folks in the elections process for the superb jobs they've done for the last two months since the primary," said Alan Pendelton, Board of Elections Chairman.

Remember, there is no voting Monday. Polls will be open from 7 a.m. - 7 p.m. statewide on Tuesday.
