ALBANY, GA (WALB) -

Two south Georgia hospitals are chosen as baby-friendly hospitals

Phoebe Putney and Tift Regional are among nine hospitals chosen by the Georgia Department of Health to participate in the Baby-Friendly Hospital 5 STAR Incentive Project.

It promotes breastfeeding with supportive policies and practices.

It's funded by a grant from the CDC.

Research shows babies who are breastfed for at least 6 months have a much lower risk of becoming overweight or obese.
