GA lost over 4K construction jobs

ALBANY, GA (WALB) -

To see a strong turnaround in the economy we need the construction industry to pick up but that's not happening in Georgia.

A new report from the Associated General Contractors of America shows the state lost 4, 800 constructions jobs in the past year.

One Albany construction company owner says the sluggish and uncertain economy is to blame.

"There's quite a bit of uncertainty out there as to whether or not people are going to make major capital expenditures in projects. The banks or financial institutions are releasing money as freely as they have in the past," said Winfred Dukes, Dukes, Edwards and Dukes, Inc.

Metro Atlanta saw the biggest construction job hit down 6 percent.

The report did not list construction jobs in Albany.
