ALBANY, GA (WALB) -
Thousands of people showed up to an annual Halloween alternative celebration Wednesday night.
Sherwood Baptist Church hosted Candy Fest at its Legacy Park. Kids dressed up as all sorts of characters even as their favorite television personalities.
They played games, jumped around in bouncy houses and climbed a rock wall. There was even an area with activities just for special needs children.
The kids had a great time and church leaders said the event wouldn't be possible without a lot of volunteers.
"I think it's good that they have the special needs here and it's good that they're doing that because a whole lot of people are specially needed and don't have fun here and now they get their chance. That would probably be my favorite part too because they're helping people," said Anna Grace Dicekrson and Aryanna Barajas, Festival Goers
"From the children's ministry to the senior adults, they're involved, they're serving. Every Sunday school class has a job description," said Billy Miller, Sherwood Christian Middle School Minister.
The entrance fee tonight was just a bag of candy. The church will donate any leftover candy to the Sheriff's Office to distribute.
