ALBANY, GA (WALB) -
This should put parents at ease. Dozens of south Georgia sex offenders are at the Probation Office in Albany where they will be monitored during trick or treating.
23 sex offender parolees from eight counties and more than 60 probationers reported to Probation Office by 5:45 Wednesday afternoon.
They'll be shown the Sherwood Pictures movie "Courageous" and must stay there until 9:00 pm. It's part of a statewide effort to keep kids safe.
"They will not be able to exit the building once they arrive. We will armed probation and parole officers and local law enforcement will be stopping by," said Parole Officer Leslie Lamb.
"In the event a parolee does not show up, we'll go out to check them," said Parole Officer Kelvin Hawkins.
Sex offenders not on parole or probation were told to keep their lights off and not answer the door for trick-or-treaters.
