THOMASVILLE, GA (WALB) -
Students at a Thomas County Elementary School got into the Halloween Spirit, while learning the value of reading.
3rd and 4th graders at Cross Creek Elementary displayed their Literacy Pumpkin Patch Wednesday.
Students were challenged to create lifelike characters from their favorite books using pumpkins and other materials.
"We could have just written an essay about it, but that wouldn't be very fun. But writing the essay and making a character about it, that makes it more fun," said 3rd grader Georgia Patton.
"I stuck it on there with this sticky tack stuff and I kept taking off the eyes and caring my sister saying she has one eye," said 3rd grader Ashley Mckay.
Teachers say they hope to continue doing this event every year.
