ALBANY, GA (WALB) -

A family is displaced after an early morning fire. The red cross was called in to assist. Albany Firefighters responded to 1301 Eager because of a fire around 7am.

After arriving they saw flames coming out the roof. There was no one inside at the time of fire.

It took firefighters 20 minutes to have everything under control.

Battalion Chief Keith Ambrose wants everyone to use caution when using heaters for the first time.

"When it starts getting this time of the year and it's time to start using your units. It's always a good to have them checked out and get them ready for the heating season," said Battalion Chief Keith Ambrose.

Firefighters say it started in the room located in the Southwest corner of the house. The cause of the fire is under investigation.
