BAINBRIDGE, GA (WALB) -

A south Georgia sheriff's office will use grant money to upgrade their vehicle fleet and combat domestic abuse.

The Decatur County Sheriff's Office was awarded three grants totaling $70,000.

Sheriff Wiley Griffin says the money will help buy six new patrol vehicles, two camera systems for the vehicles, and will re-fund the full-time victims advocate position.

The position is currently held by Captain Liz Croley.

"She does a good job with this grant assisting victims of sexual assault, child molestation, spousal abuse, domestic violence in this community and other communities. It is a crime that we want to stamp out," said Griffin.

Griffin says his office is taking out a $190,000 loan for the new vehicles and $30,000 of the grant money will help subsidize those costs.
