CAIRO, GA (WALB) -
Cairo Police are investigating a hit and run that left a man dead.
It happened around 7:40 pm Friday. Authorities say 57 year-old Tim Young was crossing Highway 84 East, near 8th Street Northeast, when he was struck by a 1990 Toyota Corolla.
Officials say 47 year-old Lanet Jones was behind the wheel and drove off after she hit him, but returned to the scene 20 minutes later.
The crash closed the highway down for two hours.
Jones has been arrested and charged with a DUI, two counts of vehicular homicide and one count of leaving the scene.
