Second Harvest to host Make A Difference Day

Posted: Updated:
ALBANY, GA (WALB) -

More than 200 volunteers will be at the Second Harvest of South Georgia for Make a Difference Day.

They will be packing more than 3,000 boxes of food to be distributed in November and December when the demand for food is at its highest.

Volunteers will also sort through 25,000 pounds of food.

Second Harvest of South Georgia officials say volunteers are needed to fight the hunger problem in Southwest Georgia.

"It's really important we keep hunger at the forefront because people think the economy is getting better, things are getting better and it's really not. We really still have counties and pockets even in the city of Albany that are desperately still searching for a way to eat every day," said Jim Case, Branch Director.

The event starts at 8 a.m. and ends at 12 p.m.
