MITCHELL CO., GA (WALB) -

The woman killed in a Thursday afternoon crash in Mitchell County has been identified as Kristen Clark Lee from San Antonio, Texas.

Lee was driving north on Old Georgia Highway 3 about three o'clock when she slammed into a utility pole south of Baconton.

She was dead at the scene. Her 2-year-old son was taken to Phoebe with spinal injuries and airlifted to Egleston Children's Hospital in Atlanta.

He was restrained in a car seat and Lee was wearing her seat belt.

"The vehicle struck a light pole and was severely damaged. It was crushed in and damaged beyond identification of what the vehicle actually was from a distance," said TFC. William West, Georgia State Patrol.

Troopers aren't sure why the woman lost control.
