ALBANY, GA (WALB) -

 As the population ages the need for caregiver's increases.

There are 65,000,000 caregivers in the United States.

The number will increase as baby boomers age.

Former First Lady Rosalynn Carter hosted an annual caregiver summit at Georgia Southwestern State University Thursday.

The summit provides practical tools to help community leaders and agencies work together to build support for family caregivers.

"In the coming years we are not going to have enough caregivers but we must take care of those that are in place now, who will take care of our loved ones and allow them to age in a place where they want to be," said Dr. Leisa Eason, Rosalynn Carter Institute Exec. Director

Attendees learned the best practices in supporting those caring for returning soldiers individuals with disabilities, stroke victims and people with mental health and substance abuse problems.
