A south Georgia police department is educating the public on identity theft.
Investigators from the Thomasville Police Department is hosting a seminar Thursday night to inform citizens how to assess their risk of identity theft, how to protect themselves, and how to clear their names if they do become a victim.
"Sometimes it's very hard to get your identity back or to stop certain things from happening once your identity is out there. That's why we want to have this forum tonight and educate our citizens on how not to become a victim," said Lt. Eric Hampton.
The seminar runs from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. in the Thomasville Municipal Auditorium.
