Halloween Safety Tips to keep your kids safe

ALBANY, GA (WALB) -

The scariest day of the year is less than a week away... Halloween. It's a time for candy, costumes and of course trick or treating.

The CDC, FDA and the Consumer Product Safety Commission wants to keep your kids safe. They combined a list of tips to do just that.

Wear costumes that are flame resistant. It's a good idea to wear bright and reflective costumes to make you more visible at night.

Try to stay away from masks that cover your eyesight. Test your makeup before that night just to see how it will react on your skin.

Stay away from the spooky contact lenses unless you've seen an eye care specialist. Parents, make sure you inspect any candy before your child eats it.

Never eat any candy where the packaging has been tampered with. The chance of a child being hit by a car is about four times higher on Halloween night than any other night of the year, according to The American College Of Emergency Physicians.
