VALDOSTA, GA (WALB) -

With Thanksgiving around the corner, officials with the Second Harvest Food Bank of South Georgia say the organization has a lot of hungry mouths to feed, and they need your help.

This Thanksgiving Day, the food bank expects to fed more than 30,000 people, totaling more than 2 million pounds of food.

During Thanksgiving week organizers will give out 4,000 boxes of food for the Thanksgiving Giveaway donation.

The CEO says right now the biggest need is financial sponsorship.

"Our resources and our products have been very very stressed, and its been very difficult just to keep up with the demands so every dollar and every hour really makes a difference right now," said Frank Richards, CEO of Second Harvest Food Bank of South Georgia.

You can help by sponsoring a family for $5 or distributing food on the weekends.

Second Harvest has four locations in south Georgia.
