County leaders crack down on Riverfront Park hours

Posted: Updated:
ALBANY, GA (WALB) -

Dougherty County leaders are looking to make Riverfront Park safer by enforcing the hours of operation.

Monday, the County Recreation Committee voted to post hours for the park on Front Street.

It's open from dawn until dusk, seven days a week.  Officials have beefed up security and added lights, but they've still have had recent reports of disturbances.  They hope this helps.

"For any events the hours were always handed out. So they were already in place, but you couldn't really enforce them because they had not been approved and now that they are being posted, it's easier to enforce," said Dwayne Greene, the facilities management director for Dougherty County.

Riverfront Park includes Turtle Grove Playground, Festival Springs Fountain, The Bridge House,  The Horace King Overlook and the River Walk.

County Commissioners are expected to vote on plan November 5th.
