ATLANTA, GA (WALB) -
ATLANTA (AP) - Former U.S. President Jimmy Carter will visit Egypt to offer support for its democratic transition during an upcoming trip to Middle East.
Carter is scheduled to visit Cairo from Oct. 23-25.
The former president will be traveling with three former world leaders called "The Elders." The delegation will be led by former Norwegian Prime Minister Gro Harlem Brundtland and former Irish President Mary Robinson.
The delegation plans to meet Egyptian President Mohamed Morsi and the secretary-general of the League of Arab States. Meetings are also planned with women's groups, religious and union leaders and youth.
The group will travel to Egypt after visiting Israel and the West Bank. Carter has advocated for a two-state solution to the Israeli-Palestinian conflict.
