Police: Man raped girls in several cities

THOMASVILLE, GA (WALB) -

An accused sexual predator is off the streets and in jail. Police say 46-year old Mark Flynn raped at least three underage girls in Cairo, Pelham, and Thomasville. Investigators say he impersonated a police officer to lured the women into his vehicle.

Police say Flynn forced at least three women to have sex with him at gunpoint. A few weeks ago we told you police were looking for a man driving a red truck was asking women around Thomasville if they wanted a ride.

Now, they say that man was 46-year old Mark Flynn. "We've been looking for Mr. Flynn for sometime now and based on some information we received from some victims and some witnesses, the Cairo Police department was able to locate him on a traffic stop," said TPD Lt. Eric Hampton.

Investigators say during that few week span, underage girls in Thomasville, Cairo, and Pelham came forward saying they got into this red Chevy Silverado with an older man who had a gun and assaulted them.

Police say in a few of the incidents Flynn was impersonating a police officer to get the women in his truck.

"We don't recommend anyone get into a car with someone they don't know first of all. And if they are saying they are a police officer in an unmarked vehicle, they should not get into the car with them," said Hampton.

Police say if a man or women in an unmarked car says he or she is a police office, you need to look for a badge, an ID number to match that badge, and a photo that says he or she is a police officer.

"It's a relief to us, the police department here in Thomasville, the sheriff's department, and all of the agencies involved that he's off the street. And I know it's a relief to all our citizens in our community that he's off the street,"  said Hampton.

Investigators say there could have been more victims, but they say some women Flynn approached refused to get into his truck.

Flynn was denied bond and remains in the Grady County Jail. Charges against Flynn in three counties include rape, aggravated child molestation, kidnapping, and possesion of a firearm during the commission of a crime.
