Offensive shootout likely in Leesburg

It has been seven years since Lee County won their only region championship in football.

The Trojans can take a big step towards a second region title if they can beat Thomas County Central.

This region 1-AAAAA showdown is our game of the week in the Locker Room.

Lee County is 6-0 for the first time in school history.

Thomas County Central is 5-1 and ranked 6th in the state.

These two teams have different offensive attacks but both can score touchdowns in a hurry.

That would mean the team that can control the football and still score finish drives with six points is likely going to be the winner.

Lee Co. head coach Dean Fabrizio said. "Of course we don't want them to have the ball but at the same token we don't want to change what we do. Playing fast. Playing at a high tempo is what we have had success with and we are going to stick with that."

Thomas Co. Central head coach Bill Shaver said. "Years past against Lee we have scored a lot but haven't been on the field a lot. We have scored quick. So, our defensive coaches are saying slow down your scoring a little bit. Keep the ball a little bit longer. Yea, we would like to keep it longer and keep all of their big weapons on the sidelines and hope we can score."

The game in Lee County will start at 8:00 p.m. on Friday.
