Valdosta burglar leaves behind blood

VALDOSTA, GA (WALB) -

A burglar left a lot of DNA evidence behind after breaking into a Western Auto store in Valdosta.

Shortly after midnight, police followed a trail of blood on East Central Avenue through downtown hoping to see where the crook went after he smashed into the store's glass window.

Investigators lost the trail but found a bag of stolen charcoal hidden in the bushes. The thief also stole two weed whackers.

So far, police have no witnesses nor suspects.

"In case someone did come in with a cut the hospitals were notified, also anybody with information if you did see something please call us at the police department and let us know about it," said Lt. Aaron Kirk, VPD.

Police say if they find a suspect, the crime lab will be able to match their blood with the blood found at the scene.

You can call the Valdosta Police Department at 229-242-2606 with any tips on the case.
