The state pushes back a deadline for Dougherty County school officials to hire a permanent principal at Albany High School.
The school system was suppose to find a replacement by Friday, but state officials extended the deadline until October 29th to coincide with the next school board meeting.
The Georgia Department of Education stepped in because an interim principal has been in place for 9-months after Angela Shumate was removed because she was named in state CRCT cheating report.
The system got hundreds of thousands of dollars in special School Improvement Grant money to improve Albany High.
The grant requires a full-time principal in place for accountability.
