ALBANY, GA (WALB) -

Valdosta Police report that 49-year-old Belinda Grimmage was arrested and charged with murder in the multiple stabbing death of 56-year-old Yvonne Smith of Valdosta.

VPD says that Smith was found on her back porch off Old Statenville Road about 10:40 Monday night with several stab wounds.

Here is the official news release from the Valdosta Police Department-

On October 15, 2012 at approximately 2240 hours (10:40 pm) the Valdosta Police Department responded to 516 Old Statenville Road in reference to the report of a stabbing.

Officers arrived and located the victim, Yvonne Smith, on the back porch with multiple stab wounds. Smith was unresponsive and officers began CPR. EMS arrived and transported Smith to the ER at SGMC where she was pronounced dead from her wounds.

Detectives from the Valdosta Police Department Persons Crime Unit and a Crime Scene Technician from the Valdosta-Lowndes Crime Lab responded to investigate.

Witnesses on scene advised that Smith had been in an argument with Belinda Grimmage and that Grimmage had stabbed Smith.

Patrol Officers located Grimmage near her residence and she was transported to the police department for questioning. Grimmage was transported to the Lowndes County Jail and will be charged with Murder.
