Marines are making sure children from low-income families have a Merry Christmas.
The Marine Reserve Detachment kicked off the annual Toys for Tots Campaign Monday.
Families in the Albany area can register with the Salvation Army to receive donated gifts.
Last year, the unit collected more than 14,000 toys for 4,000 children and raised about $9,000 in donations.
"There is a lot of kids around the United States that don't have a Christmas each year, they wake up Christmas morning and there is nothing there for them, but Marines in partnership with the Salvation Army and local community, we are able to give them something for Christmas," Gunnery Sgt. Kenneth Starkey, Supply Chief.
Toys for Tots bins will be placed around town for donations. To find out how to register or become an official drop-off site click here
