ALBANY, GA (WALB) -
Here in Albany, ASU's Homecoming week has the largest impact of any event the city hosts each year.
Chamber of Commerce officials estimate it pumps 3.5M dollars into the economy.
Businesses have been gearing up for this weekend for months.
On Monday, festivities kicked off with a SGA pep rally on ASU's campus.
There are more than 2,000 hotel rooms in Albany and this weekend they are at 90 percent occupancy.
Staff at Best Western say they are getting keys ready, doing deep cleanings and preparing extra linens ahead of time to make sure things run as smooth as possible.
Most hotel rooms are booked but there is still hope for those last minute planners.
"People cancel, things pop up I just tell them to keep calling every day because you never know we might have that one cancellation where we can fit you in. I tell them if you know someone who's got a room, call them see if they can stay with them," said Cheyenne Goodman, Front Desk Representative at Best Western.
This all leads up to the big parade and homecoming game event on Saturday.
Close to 10,000 people are expected to be in attendance at the game on Saturday, so make sure to show your support by dressing in your blue and gold.
There are homecoming related events going on all week.
