ALBANY, GA (WALB) -
First Free Will Baptist Church in Albany invited thousands of people out to support a ministry that's been around for nearly 50 years.
The church hosted a concert Saturday night with musical acts from eight different churches to raise money for the Anchorage.
It was formed in 1963 to help men struggling with alcoholism. Today, the community ministry has taken in over 50 men and provides them with temporary housing, meals, and a relationship with God.
"It cost of $585 a month per man to house, feed, and train these men while they are at the Anchorage. We receive no government money, we raise all the money in this community or in Southwest Georgia and our annual budget is around $325,000," says Media Past Chairman, Skylar Martin.
Organizers expect to raise anywhere between $12,000 to $15from the night's event.
