T'ville adds CNG sanitation trucks

Posted: Updated:

THOMASVILLE, GA (WALB) - Thomasville wants to be more environmentally friendly and save money at the same time.

The city just got four compressed natural gas-powered sanitation trucks.

City officials say each clean-burning truck will conserve about 300 barrels of oil a year.

"One of the goals we wanted to accomplish was to improve our carbon footprint and operate more environmentally friendly. And also to save money wherever we can," said City Manager Steve Sykes.

City officials say they not only plan to convert the sanitation fleet, but every other city vehicle as well.
