Police Chase ends in Albany Yard

ALBANY, GA (WALB) -

Two men are in jail after speeding away from officers and crashing in a residential Albany neighborhood.

Police arrested Garon Mathis, Junior and his passenger Terry Cutts a little before six o'clock Thursday night in the 1500 block of 10th avenue.

State Troopers, Albany Police, ADDU agents and GBI agents were there.

We're told Mathis was wanted for violating his parole.

He refused to stop for an officer then took this curve too fast and ran his Chevy Suburban through several yards.

Agents found controlled substance pills in the SUV.

Some neighbors saw the whole thing.

"The only thing going through my mind was to get my kids and get down, get my kids and get down. That's the only thing that was going through my mind. I was just scared because I've never seen that before," said witness LaKeysa Stephens.

Mathis is facing a number of traffic and parole violations.

Drug charges are pending against both men.
