DOUGLAS, GA (WALB) -

The propane gas you use for your grill could also fuel your car.

Amerigas Propane held a regional alternative fuel expo in Douglas to show the numerous propane-powered vehicles, everything from cars and trucks to lawn mowers.

Supporters say propane is a safe, domestic, and cost-effective energy source for vehicles. It provides a 40% to 50% per gallon savings versus gasoline.

"It is a very clean product, you have very little particulate matter, and very little greenhouse gases, as compared to gasoline or diesel when you use propane as an alternative energy source," says Jeff Cliett, Amerigas Propane.

To find out how you can convert your vehicle over to propane call 912-401-1879 or email him at jeff.cliett@amerigas.com.
