ALBANY, GA (WALB) -
A special guest speaker gave Darton students words of encouragement, Wednesday night.
Coach Herman Boone, famously portrayed by Denzel Washington in the movie "Remember the Titans", spoke about the importance of becoming a Titan in tough times.
He hopes students learn the importance of finishing college and making a difference in their community.
"When day breaks and you do not plan to make a difference then take your butt back to sleep. Well you didn't come to Darton College to sleep, you came here to make a difference. You came here to certify yourself so that you can make a difference in your community," said Boone.
Coach Boone is a former high school football coach, best known for coaching at the newly integrated TC Williams High School in Alexandria, Virginia in 1971.
