A woman who hopes to serve on the Dougherty County school board next year is getting ideas from people in the community on how to improve the school system.
Wednesday, Lane Price held a strategic planning luncheon with women she's met during the campaign.
Retired teachers, mothers, grandmothers and community leaders discussed ideas that could be brought before the school board to improve education.
"Because if I'm going to be on the board, from the whole community I've got to know what the community needs. What does the community want," said Lane Price, School Board at-large candidate.
Price hopes to have more similar meetings.
She's running as a Democrat for the at-large seat.
Rev. Lorenzo Heard is a qualified write-in candidate.
He's waiting for a judge's ruling on whether his name can go on the ballot as an independent.
