ATLANTA (AP) - Former President Jimmy Carter recently celebrated his 88th birthday, but he is still learning new ways to interact with citizens.
Later this month, the 39th U.S. president will conduct a town hall meeting of sorts, answering questions now being solicited through the Carter Center's website, Facebook page and Twitter account. His responses will be distributed Oct. 19 via online video.
The occasion is part of the Carter Center's 30th anniversary.
Carter and his wife, Rosalynn, launched the international health and human rights organization in 1982, a year after leaving the White House.
Carter Center representatives have monitored elections, implemented disease eradication programs and helped underdeveloped countries expand their food supply and access to health care.
Nearing 32 years, Carter has lived longer after his presidency than any other American executive.
