ALBANY, GA (WALB) -
State agriculture and highway safety officials want drivers to be more aware of farming equipment.
They're kicking off the second annual "Improving Georgia's Yield Behind the Wheel" campaign.
Crashes involving farm equipment in Georgia increased by 33 percent last year.
More farming equipment is on the road this time of year because of harvesting.
Dougherty County Police say drivers and farm workers need to be cautious.
"People sometimes don't realize how slow something may be moving until they get right up on it or they try to pass it and realize they can't pass it so it can be very dangerous. That's what we're trying to inform people of," said Capt. Tom Jackson with DCP.
There were five deaths from farm equipment crashes in Georgia last year and several more serious injuries.
