ALBANY, GA (WALB) -

Lots of men and women in uniforms enjoyed free meals at the Albany Chick-fil-A restaurants Tuesday.

The owners declared Tuesday "hometown heroes day" to thank public safety workers and members of the military for their service.

Service members from any branch of the military along with firefighters, paramedics' And law enforcers in uniform got free lunches.

"We don't really thank them enough for the job that we do to enhance our community. And we just want to some our support," said Lawrence Knighton, Chick Fil A Marketing & Sales Director.

Dougherty County EMS Supervisor Sam Allen said "It's great.  It's really good that Chick-fil-A stands out and supports the community like they do.  And public safety individuals, we certainly appreciate what they are doing for us."

Chick-fil-A officials estimated they served about 400 meals to hometown heroes Tuesday.

They plan to honor community leaders several times a year.
