Albany man sentenced to life for armed robbery

ALBANY, GA (WALB) -

An Albany man convicted last month in a violent armed robbery will spend the rest of his life behind bars.

36-year-old Kawaski Bush was sentenced Monday afternoon to a life sentence plus five years. A jury found him guilty September 14 of armed robbery, aggravated assault, theft by taking and gun charges.

Because Bush was already a convicted felon, prosecutors say he will not be eligible for parole.

Prosecutors say he and Larrious McCoy at gunpoint stole Marquis Garland's car and money in March 2011.

McCoy pleaded guilty and testified against Bush.

Bush was set to stand trial for another armed robbery, but prosecutors say they do not plan to try him again.
