THOMASVILLE, GA (WALB) - There's a spike in sexual assaults in one south Georgia city.

So far this year, Thomasville Police have investigated 38 reports of sexual assault.

That's one more than all of last year.

Police say in the most of the cases, the victims were familiar with their assailants.

They're also looking for a woman driving around town in a red truck asking women if they want a ride.

They don't think he's actually assaulted anyone, but they want women to be on the lookout.

"We really want to encourage people, if someone pulls up beside you in a vehicle, regardless of what kind of vehicle it is, and offer you a ride not to get into a car with a stranger. Be in children or be it grown-ups, just don't take rides from strangers," said Lt. Eric Hampton.

Of the 38 reports of sexual assault, eight are listed as rapes, with three statutory rapes, and one sodomy.
