ALBANY, GA (WALB) -
The Dougherty County Finance Committee reviewed the unaudited budget for 2012 Monday morning.
Board members discussed trying to avoid dipping into the reserve funds.
County Administrator Richard Crowdis says revenue is up for fees, fines and forfeitures which is something the county hasn't seen in almost three years.
They also talked about possible ways to reduce costs by cutting the work force.
Another option is to no longer pay employees for unused sick time.
"The commission reduced that rate of pay in 2005 from 100 percent to 50 percent. That's an option that the Finance Committee and County Commission will look at in case they decide to trim it," said Richard Crowdis, County Administrator.
The committee did not vote on anything this morning and will continue to meet with other departments in the county.
